Linguaphone Group, the global UK-based language training provider, today announced a landmark partnership with the Melewar Group from Malaysia, which will see them act as the Linguaphone Group’s exclusive Direct English Master Licensee for Malaysia, India and Singapore.
In the presence of His Excellency Mr. Simon Featherstone CMG, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Derek Price, Chief Executive Officer with the Linguaphone Group and Tunku Iskandar, Group Managing Director of the Melewar Group signed an exclusive agreement to develop the Linguaphone Group’s Direct English language training program in Asia.
Created in 1997, Direct English is based on a unique learning system developed by the internationally renowned education authority on English language, Louis Alexander. Direct English combines highly interactive bilingual materials, with a program of personalised tutorials and conversation classes, and already delivers world-class English language training for all abilities through a network of licensed partners across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Melewar Group is a Malaysian business conglomerate, founded in 1963 with a strong commitment to training and education. Through their subsidiary company English Learning Group Ltd., they will develop Direct English to corporate and retail markets across Malaysia, India and Singapore from January next year.
Speaking at the ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Derek Price, Chief Executive Officer with the Linguaphone Group commented:
